SP 2025 Softball Registration

Spring 2025 Softball (ages 4-16)

We're happy to announce that registration for the 2025 Softball Spring season is open. We're excited to build on the successes of 2024 which included over 140 players participating in Spring ball, the Little League All Star Tournament, and Fall ball.

About the Softball Program

The 2025 Corvallis Little League Softball program includes divisions for girls ages 4–14 . The CLL softball program differs from our baseball program in that Minor League, Major League, and Junior Divisions travel to other towns to compete. Your player should be prepared to practice several times a week and to play weeknights and Saturdays. Softball practices start as soon as registration closes in March. Games can start as early as April 6th. Opening day is currently scheduled for April 13th and regular season play continues into June. Then the fun begins with the postseason All Star competition. All Stars is an extension of the regular season and we urge you to plan your summer vacations late if you have a softball loving daughter. The last 3 years CLL has fielded 3-4 All Star Teams each year, with many progressing to the State Tournament level. For your softball player, nothing is better.

Home games and most practices for the Minors, Majors, and Juniors are at Williams Fields, directly across the street from Cheldelin Middle School. Some practices are at other fields in Corvallis and inside in school facilities when the weather doesn't cooperate.

You can both register your player at the Corvallis Little League website and sign up for a volunteer role at the same time. Here is a handy PDF to help walk you though the Sports Connect program we use for registration.

Softball divisions consist of the following programs:

Tee Ball – In 2024, CLL had our first softball Tee Ball teams that played with our coed Tee Ball teams. We are excited to continue offering softball at the Tee Ball level. Parents are strongly encouraged to become involved as managers, coaches, and volunteer in a variety of other capacities. This is the perfect time to get involved.

Minor League - For 2024, CLL will offer an AA and AAA level of Minor softball. ages 7-11 based on age and skill level. Generally, ages 5 -8 will play at the AA level, where coach and player pitch may be used and ages 9-11 will play at the AAA level which is player pitch only. You do not need to select a level when registering your player. CLL Softball will conduct 2 Skills and Drills Evaluation days prior to teams forming to ensure all players are placed at the best level to develop and enjoy the sport. The diamond has 60-foot base paths and a 35 foot pitching distance. Parents are strongly encouraged to become involved as managers, coaches, and volunteer in a variety of other capacities. Managers, coaches, and players will select All Star teams from this level to compete at the 8-9-10 and 9-10-11 age levels.

Major Division (also called Little League) - This level is for players ages 10-12. Very capable 9-year-olds may play up. The field uses a 60-foot diamond and a 40 foot pitching distance. A local league may dual-roster 12-year-olds, assessed capable, to a Major and a Junior division softball teams. Managers, coaches, and players will select a Tournament Team (All-Stars) to enter the International Tournament. The culmination of the International Tournament is the Girls Little League Softball World Series, featuring teams from around the world. In 2023 the Little League Softball World Series was broadcast on ABC and over 300 Little League Softball and Baseball games were carried on ESPN and ESPN+.

Junior Division - This level is for players ages 12-14. Very capable 11-year-olds may play up. The field uses a conventional 60-foot diamond with a 43 foot pitching distance. Managers, coaches, and players will select a Tournament Team (All-Stars) from this division to enter the International Tournament. High School players who meet the age requirement may also play on our Junior teams and can be eligible to participate in All Stars. We encourage first-year High School players to consider also playing on a CLL team to get more game time later into the season.

Senior Division - District 7, which CLL is part of, has not offered a regular season Senior level Division. This level is for players 13-16. In 2025, CLL may enter a Tournament Team ( All Stars) without having had a regular season. The only requirement to field a 2024 team is that players have amateur status, be registered with CLL and meet the residency or school requirements. We'd like to explore the opportunity to field a Senior Tournament Team in the International Tournament so if your player is interested in playing on a tournament team, please register, there is no fee at this time. There may also be some interest in some games prior to All Stars as the HS season winds down against other towns.

All Star teams do have an additional registration costs once teams are formed. More information to come.

League Age

League age is the players age as of 12/31/2024. You can find the Little League Age Calculator here. You will need to register for the division your player falls in and at the Skills and Drills Evaluation we will assess if they can move up or down based on skill level.

Scholarships

Corvallis Little League has scholarships funding available to make sure every player gets on the field. If you are in need of financial assistance, please send an email to [email protected]. Scholarship requests are confidential.

Grants

T-Mobile offers the Call Up Grant Program which is dedicated to helping families in need by covering registration fees. We encourage you to apply if you feel you qualify as it helps spread the CLL Scholarship funds further. Applications open Thursday, January 11th and it takes 5 to 7 business days to qualify.

You can learn more about the Call Up Grant here:

Volunteers

Corvallis Little League is an all volunteer run nonprofit and we need every parent and others to volunteer to make our season special. Each team requires a manager, 2 coaches, 1 or 2 umpires, 1 or 2 scorekeepers, a safety parent, a team parent, 2 field prep assistants, and a concessions coordinator. That's 10 volunteers per team!

In 2023 CLL was able to reopen the concession stand at Williams Field for many games. Having a concession stand made the games all that much better and it helped raise funds to purchase much needed equipment. Every family will be expected to volunteer to help work the concession stand in 2025.

You can see a grid of Volunteer Roles needed at all Division levels and Position Descriptions here.

If you are interested in coaching please register early. We'll have several coaching clinics prior to the start of practice. We also need umpires for the program and are working on developing a Junior Umpire program. If you are interested in helping us develop a solid umpire program, please email Susan Thompson at [email protected]

Volunteers must submit to a a background check. When you sign up to volunteer using this platform (Sports Connect) a background check through JDP will be conducted. In addition, for 2024 Little League International has made important updates to the Child Protection Program. Beginning in 2024, abuse awareness training will be a required part of the Little League Volunteer Application. You can learn more about the Child Protection Program and the changes here:

More details on abuse awareness training will be forthcoming in Jan 2024. If you would like to get an early start, the USA Baseball Program offers a Free Abuse Awareness online course which meets LL requirements. You can learn more here:

You can register and access the online course here:

Once completed, you will be able to download a certificate of completion. Please forward to [email protected]

Sponsors

To keep registration fees low and to offer scholarships to ensure every player gets to play, we need sponsorships and donations. Please reach out to Holly Fisher, VP of Softball, at [email protected] for more information.

Out of Boundary Players - Mid Valley Little League

We've entered into an agreement with Mid Valley Little League to combine teams so that softball players in the Mid Valley area will be able to play under Corvallis Little League. This agreement will strengthen softball in the Willamette Valley and ensure all players can compete at all levels. When you register, you may get an out-of-boundary error message but you will still be able to complete the registration process.

You can find the Corvallis Little League and Mid Valley Boundary map here:

Little League uses "boundary maps" to determine the district a player is eligible to play in. More information can be found here:
